Dear Friends and Supporters,

Well the winter season is upon us with tons of white stuff settling in Europe and North America! We hope you're all dusting your kit off and getting ready to head out to some mountains. Over the last month we've been working hard getting the Snow-Camp Excel instructor programme underway and we're really proud of the young people who are working hard to achieve their Level 1 Instructor qualification. Plus, this month is your last chance to sign up to the Snow-Camp Everest Challenge in January, so if you'd like to raise vital funds for our work with young people, and fancy the challenge of 15 ski resorts in 2 days, then please do sign-up now!

Enjoy this month's update.

Snow-Camp Everest Challenge

Snow-Camp France 2011

Finally we are ending this newsletter with the sad news that Snow-Camp France 2011 has had to be put on hold. The current economic crisis has lead to severe cuts and funding challenges across the charity sector are these are impacting on both Snow-Camp and many of the youth programmes we work with. We have had to take some tough decisions to ensure the future sustainability of the charity, and as such we are having to restructure our range of programmes to reflect the reduced funding available.

Going forward we are structuring our programmes to have a stronger focus on the UK, which means for the first time we will be running a Snow-Camp Scotland. Watch this space! Furthermore, we are expanding the life-skills elements to include higher levels of vocational support for young people, as well as expanding the opportunities for work experience in the ski industry and to gain qualifications. Our central objective remains using snowsports to show young people their potential by overcoming the challenges in learning to ski or snowboard - and through this inspiring and equipping young people to achieve more in their education, employment and relationships, which is an increasingly important role for Snow-Camp.

Christmas Appeal

ImageIn these challenging economic times we need your support more than ever to help us continue to invest in and support young people. We hope over the last year these newsletters have kept you up to date with our work, and hopefully you have seen the huge amount of effort going towards developing and delivering positive Snow-Camp programmes supporting ever more inner-city young people. With only 5 staff we are still a very small charity! But we want to see Snow-Camp continue to expand and we need your help. In this newsletter we are launching a Christmas Appeal to ask for your support to ensure Snow-Camp can continue to work with young people who really need our support and the opportunities our programmes provide.

Please consider making a small donation to Snow-Camp's work this Christmas, every little helps and your support would be gratefully received. Read more about funding a Snow-Camp Young Person's Bursary at http://www.snow-camp.org.uk/support or you can donate online at the JustGiving link below. Thank you.

You can read what the young people you will be supporting said recently about their involvement with Snow-Camp:

"Snow-Camp has instilled so much confidence in me! I have come so far with something I first knew nothing about. Snow Camp inspires me to pursue my dreams and constantly reminds me I am capable of doing anything I want!" (Thea, 16, Brixton)

"Snow-Camp has influenced me a lot because it has giving me a once in a life time opportunity to do something that I would have never thought of doing, also by helping me gain self confidence to meet new people and make new friends. It has also helped me to find something that I am good at and that I would like to have a career in." (Kirbie, 17, Tulse Hill)

"Snow-Camp has encouraged me to go after what I want and given me more confidence to do it. It has also made me want to do for another young person what Snow-Camp has done for me and many others." (Layal, 18, Victoria)

Thank you in advance for your support.
