Edward is into his first full time season with the British Land Alpine Ski Team. His training had been going well, but it was a difficult start to the race season. The Norwegian trip before Christmas was cancelled due to lack of snow, it was not much better in the Austrian Alps. The races that could be held were all difficult ones and Ed found himself way down the bib order, but with hard work and perseverance he has gained considerable improvements in his placings. He came back home to England for Christmas and New Year, then back to the British Olympic centre in Lofer, Austria refreshed, full of vigour and determination. They had had some snow at last and there were more races to do. His G.S. points came tumbling down along with his slalom points. February arrived with the news of a quick 6 day trip home for a re charge. This last week found Ed racing 2 Junior FIS slaloms in Germany, the first he didn't make through to the finish but the second day found Ed winning the race. The other great news is that he has been selected to represent Britain, in slalom, at the World Junior Championships in Bardonecchia, Italy 24th February. With the selection criteria being toughened up this year only one male and one female (Pamela Thorburn) have been selected. So far so good.
