Edward DrakeTuesday 26 April 2005 What a winter it has been for Ed Drake - end of season update...
At the British Senior Downhill in Méribel, the Ski Club of Great Britain Challenge Cup, Ed was second Brit, behind Finlay Mickel. This result it also meant he was first Junior. He then went on to do really well at the British Juniors in Méribel. Super G was the first race, and he finished in first position. The second day the GS turned out not to be so good, as his ski pre-released on the second run. The 3rd day was the Slalom and the weather was terrible, raining hard. His first run was awesome over a second ahead of the next person. This meant with the rules set, the top 30 were reversed, Ed was to ski 30th for his second run, by which time the course started to break up and become very rutted. After a few hairy turns and a lot of ooh`s and ah`s from the spectators he completed the run and stayed in front winning the Ski Club of Great Britain Slalom Trophy. The 2 wins meant he had won the overall Juniors for the event. It has been a good British Land Alpine Ski Championships. Ed is back at home now in Kingston recuperating and getting his energies up again in preparation for the summer training sessions that lie ahead. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that next winter will be even better again for him. |
