NEW (updated 17 May) Kent Schools Ski Championships - Bromley - Sunday 20th May
Sponsored by Chaletline, Ambition Racing, Captain's Cabin, Canterbury and an anonymous donor.
Support our sponsors. We like to say a thank you to all our sponsors without whom it would not be possible to run the championships and in particular we would like to say a very big thank you to the anonymous donor who made a very substantial donation.

Start List as of 20:00 May 18
It is important that a racer's age (school year) is specified correctly. Please check this and the spelling of the names (both racers and schools) and let Sally Woods know or email Alan Sandell if a change is required. However please note that racers who are really school year R are shown as school year 1 for technical reasons.

All enquiries/entries should be directed at Sally Woods.

Note: Bromley Ski Slope has a small supply of ski poles so racers are strongly advised to bring their own or risk sharing with other racers or skiing without poles. If they have a tip diameter of less than 15mm they must be fitted with suitable tip protectors to increase the tip diameter to 15mm.
Note also that competitors must wear a properly fitted and approved safety helmet on the slope through-out the event.

RSS News Feeds - what are they and how do I read them?
RSS feeds are a spam-free, quick and efficient way to read news and weblogs. To get the most out of newsfeeds, you need a powerful aggregator, though, that lets you organize, search, categorize and use news items just like emails.
You'll need a good RSS News Feed reader to do this - Google Reader is one of the best. There are lots out there, each with their own specialities and quirks, so pick one that suits you, but if you don't know then try Google Reader.
Click here for a good, sub four minute, video Beginners Guide to RSS.   If you want more detail, try this link.

How the Equality Act 2010 affects sports clubs
The Government Equalities Office has prepared guidance on the changes that have recently been made to the Equality Act 2010 which may affect some sports clubs.
The provisions in the Act do not necessarily apply to all sports clubs, but they do affect clubs/associations which:
* have 25 or more members, and
* control access to membership by rules involving a selection process.
For example, clubs which require people to make a personal application, be sponsored by other members and/or go through some kind of selection process will be affected by the changes.
The guidance can be found here on this site or on the Government Equalities web site here along with other useful information.

Important Notice to ALL Racers
Due to the quantity of unsportsmanlike behaviour at dry slope races following gate faults, ranging from carrying on to cross the Finish Line, swearing, and pole abuse, all tds & Race Organisers have been reminded that sanctions are to be applied if behaviour contravenes competition rules. Please be aware that this could ultimately lead to the sanction of ‘suspension from events’ (ICR 223.3.2).

Skiing

It's ecstasy, anguish, joy and despair.
It's part of our history.
It's part of our country and will be part of our future.
It's theatre, art, war and love.
It should be predictable, but never is.
It's a feeling that can't be explained but we spend our lives explaining it.
It's our religion. We do not deny it, we do not apologise for it.

We know how you feel about it because we feel the same.
